We were approached by a couple heading towards retirement to develop a dwelling which they could call home, and run as a small B&B business, on their beautiful 20-acre site in Bellingen, NSW.

After some detailed negotiations with the local council, we successfully received approval to build a comfortable home with 4 assorted motel style rooms. The clear brief from the client was that the design must allow a separation between the guest accommodation, and ensure privacy for the owners, whilst ensuring all occupants can enjoy a private idyllic hilltop bushland setting.

The brief also required that each of the single luxury guest rooms could contain some privacy, and set the style for a B&B retreat.

We focused our architectural flair about the integration of accommodation to the surrounding landscape and building into the land and its outlook - whilst ensuring that all passive solar design principles were maximised.

This project included utilised all Australian-centric materials, whilst ensuring the major resources of water, hot water and electricity were all sourced and managed onsite.
